@lynnie61, I was working in a very nice place w/ a very brisk lunch business. Lots of people on lunch breaks w/ little time to spare.
I would say "Next!", and skip over someone engrossed on their phone.
You wouldn't believe how quickly they'd hang up! They'd have zero sympathy from the other customers.

Per the instacart shoppers. I use the service and I'm on the phone with the shopper live. You communicate with them the entire time.
For myself, I don't think it's as bad as it once was. The novelty was everywhere when cell phones became on the internet. I remember a craze a couple of years ago with everyone searching for a treasure. People walking all over the campus trying to find it and crashing in to people and buildings etc. I remember riding the university shuttle with student in the early 2000's when it was talk cell phones. First it was noisy, the it few quiet with people texting, Then came smart phones, with people playing games and going on the internet. Students always had phone in their hand. It's different now. You don't see cell phone as much. Now the shuttle is quiet ag students using the phone. ain. With fewer students pulling out their phones.

@Effie54 wrote:Yes, I agree. Cell phones are both a blessing and a curse. Some people can't live without looking at their phone every minute. It's especially rude when you're trying to have a conversation with someone who keeps glancing at their phone. Usually at that point, I will just just walk away and not bother.
@Effie54 Welcome!🥰 I am SO enjoying reading all of the perspectives this evening! Some I had not yet considered!😁I have family members that are guilty of frequently checking their phone for social media updates during conversations!😂 It is hard not to get frustrated with them sometimes.😐
THANK you SO much for caring to share your perspective this evening!🤗

@Iwantcoffee Welcome!🥰 It happened SO quickly, but he was SO focused on his phone, I doubt he would have heard me.😁 He was right in front of me which was SO strange, and just let the door go because he was oblivious to his surroundings. It was literally seconds.😐
THANK you SO much for caring to share your question this evening!🤗

I always read and respect the stories about rude people and their phones.
However, those who drive distracted with these devices are very dangerous. I know, because I was a victim in a crash caused by a very distracted driver. Yes, a lovely day, sun shining, driving along a straight road. Started to slow down, with my blinker on. Then it happened. My car was hit and moving forward within a second. While I did not assess my situation, as it happened so fast, I grabbed my steering wheel with all my strength to avoid trees.
I grabbed the steering wheel so hard I sustained some permanent damage to my right hand, actually my thumb area.
Operation, PT, did no good. But I remain thankful that I was not hurt badly. I always wear a seat belt. Young man who hit me, sure he was on his phone or whatever.

@songbird Welcome!🥰 I utilize Instacart a great deal and understand they must be on their phones, but they are also cognizant of their surroundings; they have to be.😁 They only communicate when there is a change that needs approval, suggestion or delivery related question.👍 I am certain it was NOT an Instacart worker that let the door slam back towards me.🥰
THANK you SO much for caring to share the college information! It is reassuring to know things have improved on campuses!🤗

@PamfromCT Welcome!🥰 I am SO very sorry to read of your accident and injury❤, but GLAD you are ok!🤗 Sadly, SO many others are affected by these insensitive individuals who are only thinking of themselves and operate a several thousand pound vehicle while distracted on their phones😐
THANK you SO much for sharing your story, and perspective this evening!🤗
