Re: Celebrities! 🤩🤔

I just thought of another story.

I went out on a Friday after work with friends to a bar. And Steve Carlton (a Phiilies pitcher) and Tim McCarver (the Phillies catcher for Steve Carlton) happened to sit at a table next to our table. There was a young Phillies pitcher with them and another man I had no idea who he was..

Being a bar and we had been there awhile, somehow the man (I had no idea who he was) introduced me to Steve Carlton, Tim McCarver and the young Phillies pitcher. I was glad to meet them but the young Phillies pitcher was also glad to meet me. Steve Carlton and Tim McCarver were being polite. And young Phillies pitcher wanted me to join them. And told me that a few times.

Even with a few drinks in me - I just couldn't do it. I was happy to meet them and chat with them but that was enough for me.

Re: Celebrities! 🤩🤔

Once I was on a flight from Philadelphia to Los Angeles, I was seared across the aisle from Malcolm Jamal Warner.

Malcolm's seat mate was unaccompanied 12 yr boy who was rather chatty the entire 5 hour flight.  Malcolm was so gracious and stayed engaged with the boy the entire flight.

When we disembarked, those of us in the cabin, thanked Malcolm for being so kind and patient with the boy.

I liked him as Theo and I liked him even more after seeing him be so courteous.

RIP Malcolm

Many years ago (1960's and 70's)DH went to a small private all male gym in the theater district in Manhattan NY...He met a lot of celebrities..DH was never impressed by fame..he said "we all looked the same in our underwear"..LOL..Sir Lawerance Oliviet..Said "call me Larry"!...Of course Arnold he was in awe when he came to visit....In those days no one had a camera in their pocket. So everything was word of mouth..

My kids met Gary Carter(catcher for the NY Mets)..My one kid stayed in touch with him until he passed..I can say I was impressed by him.

Sly Stallone when he was in NY..he was always in his Aunt and Uncle's Italian Deli/catering store! He mingled with everyone who came in the store.

@Judaline I went to college with his sister Hilde in the 60s. She was a very good singer and played a six string acoustic guitar. Very accomplished family.

Met and talked with both Magic Johnson and Kareen Abdul Jabbar, Magic was in town at a shoe signing gig, and hubby who is a huge fan bought a ticket to a "meet and greet" I went along and he was sonice and funny and let us take a couiple of pics.

Kareem was at a book signing event and he was very nice as well.

Met Tina Turner when I was about 12 years old at The Playboy Club in Lake Geneva, I was with my parents and their friends, and one of their friends knew someone in her band, so we all got to go to her dressing room and say Hi. She was sooo friendly and sweet to my sister and I, I can still remember her saying have some fruit girls-take it with you...

Also saw Eddie Murphy at a club in L.A. when I was in L.A. for my cousin's wedding and her husband played for The Denver Broncos at the time, and we all went to this exclusive club, and there was Eddie Murphy and his entourage-he walked by and said Hello, he seemed a bit stuck on himself..

Also at a Broncos/Packers game met John Elway, as my cousin's husband played for the Broncos-he was snotty and not very friendly either.

Re: Celebrities! 🤩🤔

I've met so many, but it's been a while.

I really enjoyed meeting Joe Montana but it was just a quick meet-n-greet type deal.  On another occasion (I was at the celeb golf tourney up at the lake) I met Jerry Rice (my fav athlete!) and he was so sweet.  His wife was so beautiful!     At some point after I'd met him we were on another fairway and he was on the other side.  All of a sudden I see him smiling and waving like crazy.  I looked around to see who he was waving at and nobody else was near us.  He then pointed at me and I realized he was waving at me.  I just thought that was cool.  He could have been done acknowledging my existence, but he wasn't.  Smiley Happy

I met Jan & Dean (they were singers from a long time ago who did Beach Boys type music).   They were very nice.   Some might recall that Jan was in a horrid auto accident, which he survived with  major brain injuries.  He has since died.  They used to come play at one of the Hot August Nights concerts, which was where I got to meet them and hang for a bit.

I used to go to the golf tourneys here each year and met lots of celebs there over the years.  I remember one was Scott Hamilton.  I didn't realize how tiny he was.

I wish I could remember more.  Getting old is hard.  Smiley Happy  My father knew a lot of celebs from John Wayne  to Jack Lemmon (I have a pic of them together).

Re: Celebrities! 🤩🤔

I just remembered another celeb I met - this was also at one of the Hot August Nights concerts one year.

I happened to run into Ken Osmond (the actor who played Eddie Haskell on 'Leave it to Beaver').     We hung out and talked for a bit.  He was very nice and classy.  Definitely not an Eddie Haskell type.  Smiley Very Happy

Wow, I have to think about this one and come back later.

My late ex-husband worked for years on The Mike Douglas Show, and I went to the tapings many times, so I did manage to meet several celebs.

He also worked on General Hospital for a few years and knew Thomas Markle, although I'm not sure I'd call him a celebrity, even now.

On my own?  Phil Collins; Gloria Allred and I had a quick lunch regarding a charity thing, and I attended a barbecue and spoke with David Hasselhoff when Knight Rider was on.

In the past three months, I've spoken briefly with John McCook (B&B) and Paul Stanley (KISS) at a grocery store in Sherman Oaks.

Hmm ... more later.

The first encounter was I was 11 and went to a Harlem Globetrotters basketball game with my Father.  Meadow Lark Lemon was giving autographs after the game.  He was great with the kids and fans.

Myron Florin played accordion, Lawrence Welk at our  Minnesota County Fair in the 60s. He had black and white photos he autographed afterwards for fans. Stood at the gate after the show.

I ran into Ed Sullivan at a restaurant in JFK airport in 1970. We were a group of girls just out of HS coming home from a two month 4-H exchange in rural Spain. He was friendly and when asked if it bothered him to be asked for autographs. He replied he would be disappointed if they didn't. He enjoyed being a celebrity, I think.

I ran into Joey Heatherton in a Vegas Casino gift shop in 1981. I had to think of her name! She was slender and toned ,dressed in a black turtleneck and slim pants. Only 5' 5". Wore a pixie type haircut. She was quiet and reserved. I said hello and she smiled and I figured she was probably getting ready for her performance so didn't bother her further.

I met Brett Farve  and Chimura, GB Packers, who came Up North to bird and deer hunt. They trashed two local bars.  Farve quit drinking shortly after. I bought a bar hat and got their autographs just as they were leaving. They were obviously bar hopping.

Wow! Thank you everyone! I loved reading about all these stories!! They're all so great! I have quite a few others ... totally forgot that I was on the show a hundred years ago with Tom Bergeron " People Are Talking" ... lol ... got his autograph. Hubby met many people being a politician.

@Stray  ok... you met the GOAT Tom Brady? And two popes?! And Bruce Willis? I am so jealous! 🥰 TB12 is our hero here in Boston. Pope John Paul II ... one sister and two brothers in law had met him. Bruce Willis ... hubby has been known to look like him.

Anyway ... thanks all! I'm sure I have more ... will report later! But it seems that many of you have wayyy better stories than I do! I love reading about them! 🤗
