I never met anyone famous.  This topic is just so great - I love it!  My husband has met so many famous people, expecially singers and groups.  He has told me about them and I get so envious!

My younger twin sisters and I spent an afternoon with Fabian at a relative's music studio in NJ.  He was the manager for both Frankie Avalon and Fabian.

Frankie had a prior family event and would have been there.

Fabian was very handsome, low key and comfortable with three adoring young fans.  Brought the pictures to my sophomore class.

Bobby Rydal's grandmother lived a few blocks away from our house.  Although he was a frequent visitor there, I never got to see him.

Saw a very young David Venable studiously prepping for his afternoon QVC program while eating a quick lunch at King of Prussia Mall.  No, I didn't interrupt him !

I've met many celebrities, but the one that still stands out to this day is Cab Calloway.

My parents loved music and played all kinds from their massive album collection.  I grew up loving the same music, even as a child.

One summer vacation, when I was 12 years old, we were flying from home in NY to visit my uncle's home in CA.  My first airplane ride.  We brought my cousin along because we were best friends and he was about the same age as me.

Waiting at the gate for our flight to board we heard the intercom, "Paging Mr. Cab Calloway, paging Mr. Cab Calloway -- will you please come to the Information Desk?"  This was the early 1970's.

My heart went crazy!  I asked my father if I could go find Cab Calloway (you can never just call him "Cab")  -- he said, "sure!"  My cousin had no idea who that was but loved the challenge.  We ran all through that airport asking for him, but no Cab Calloway in sight.  Dejected, we returned to our gate and I told my dad we must have missed him; I was nearly in tears.  

Then my father went stone-faced, stood up, grab me by the arm, and brought me to my feet.  Cab Calloway was walking up directly behind me, and stopped about 2 feet away.  My father explained I was a big fan, out-stretched my arm, and introduced me.  Cab Calloway smiled beautifully, acted like he was meeting royalty, shook my hand and my cousin's, and thanked us for being fans. He was traveling with his wife, who was also stunning and smiling.

I couldn't say a word.  My father thanked him.  He walked off, and was on his way.  

I've treasured that memory for decades.

I met Bob Dylan back in the 70s after a concert. He had been one of my favorites for years (still is) and I was star struck. 

I lived in a very large city in the 70s. A lot of musicians and actors were always in town. Among others, I met Kris Kristofferson, Bonnie Raitt, Bruce Springsteen, Olivia Newton John, and Carly Simon.

When I was a teen-ager we went to visit my grandparents in NY. They took us to Sardi's Restaurant for lunch. As we ate, my GM said, 'what's the matter, honey?' I guess I didn't look too happy, dunno. Anyway I said, 'I just hoped Paul Newman would come in.' You won't believe this but he did come in and he HEARD me and gave me a huge smile. He was with some other people so he didn't stick around but I do remember all the peas falling off my fork when I stopped eating when I saw him.

Sat beside BJ Thomas on a flight to LA he was very frieindly. Julian Lennon was in the USAirway club and sat across from me, Mickey Rourke (author), Ray Boom Boon Mancini-we produced a movie about him and met many 'stars' through that, Tommy James (but no Shondells!), Paul Newman-he used our training room to relax a couple of times a day and always left a letter for us to mail to Joanne Woodward-he was filming Slapshot, Tom Cruz was filming All the Right Moves during one of the 'big games' they did the filming a midnight . . .and it was noisy. . . the stadium was across the street from us, DH and I were sitting on the porch and Tom 'pulled up a step' to sit during a break!

I was visiting a friend when the phone rang.  She said I have to take this it's Richard Gere.  They worked together on the free Nepal cause.  I was surprised she was actually friends with him.  I didn't hear the conversation but when it ended she said to me, that Cindy (Crawford) is not good for him.  They divorced not long after.

In the summer of 1980, a couple girl friends and I went to see Christopher Walken who was performing in a Shakespearean play I think it was in Connecticut.  I still have the program that he autographed tucked away in my files.

Anyway, after the play we had tickets for a meet n greet.  So I was very nervous just asking for his autograph.  My other friend did the same.  BUT, her sister was the bold one.  She asked him if he wanted to have a "smoke" - and sure enough he did.

So the four of us left the meet n greet and went out back where there were some picnic tables far away from the other attendees.  We proceeded to share a "smoke" and we all talked just liked we knew each other and were old friends.  He was just like any other cute guy you'd want to talk to.

He'd had success in The Deer Hunter but I think this was before the whole Natalie Wood/boat drowning thing.  I've got pictures where he's blowing a kiss to the camera with my friends.
