My adopted cat is only 3. She does not have control of her claws. She doesn't seem to know how/when to retract them and gets stuck on the carpet as she walks, gets stuck on the curtains, etc.
I was taking her every few weeks to have her claws trimmed which seemed to help. But she absolutely HATES having that done. I can't do it myself - tried once and can't control her enough to trim effectively. So I pack her into her pet taxi, take her to the groomer and she does the trimming. Rhonda HATES the pet taxi, HATES being trimmed, HATES the ride home. Growls the whole time, sometimes spits and hisses like crazy. At least she hasn't bitten the groomer yet.
I never considered having her declawed but now I'm wondering. Does anyone have any ideas for what to do with a cat who doesn't know how to retract her claws and hates having them trimmed?
TIA
-Kalli
