My cat has lost tons of weight over the past few months. She is down to 5lbs. She is constantly begging for food, has diarrhea going all over the house and throwing up daily. I took her to the vet and $320.00 later they say its hyperthyroidism. The medicine is $46.00/month plus special cans of cat food for $2.47 each can. Can you believe it? More than my own thyroid medicine! The vet said she may have kidney disease that may be masked once the thyroid is back to normal with meds. Blood work every 8 weeks or so.

The problem is she doesnt have any type of quality of life. She is starved no matter how much I feed her. She is constantly in the kitchen meowing for food. She has diarrhea that I have to clean everyday-all over the carpet upstairs and downstairs. That alone stresses me out more than anything. I am miserable and stressed out all the time. I walk in the house and want to leave immediately, I am sure she is miserable.

I think I have decided its time to go... I feel so guilty. She is 11 years old. I know I have given her 11 good years. I cant see that she is going to get any better. I am always stressed out over the diarrhea and throw up all over the house everyday. Last night in the middle of the night I woke up to diarrhea all over my bedroom floor. We are scheduled to go away for a week and have a friend house sitting. I cant possibly expect him to clean up the constant mess.

Has anyone gone thru this? Its very hard explaining to my 14 year old Daughter why I have to do this. I have such guilt. I have to make the decision. I feel cruel but then I know I cant go on like this.
