I understand those feelings about a lay off...
But I will point out that not everyone thought they were the best of the hosts....I know I didn't...
I didn't have any feelings one way or the other about them, they were just not my cup of tea...I'm not dreamy, and the squirrel stuff was, in my opinion, childish.
Actually I don't really "care" about ANY TeeVee personality...they are there to entertain, or in QVC's case, sell.
The new hosts are,for the most part, terrible. Infantile, moronic and embarrassing. And the older hosts who are left seem to have to lower themselves to that level, which is making it even harder for QVC's loyal customers to stay engaged.
Actually, it might even be a ploy to get MORE of the older ones to leave. It's getting REALLY bad lately.
Look at all the posts where people say the shut the volume off, or turn the channel when the nonsense starts.
It''s too bad everything has to sink so low to compete today.

I totally agree. So nicely said. ![]()
I miss Carolyn.
I have saved so much money the last 2 weeks! ![]()
I find myself just looking elseware, going directly to websites, and shopping local. I canceled all my plant orders and most Auto Delivery.
This is just my choice. Some people take different approaches as to how attached it is normal to become to people, or how much we should honor "business" in America.
That all said, as a 40 something woman that has been through the realities of jobs and staying competitive in the workforce, reinventing, and also caring for others as I am a working person - I am 100% suspicious of the way in which they departed. I too hope their departing was done with some $ package or professionalism, but to those of us watching, it looks crappy. If Carolyn were my personal friend or colleague I would absolutely take at minimum a modest stand with my loyalty.
to all those bummed out and not watching much, take care, All![]()
Miss you Carolyn & Dan!

I would doubt if they are "coming" back. Retirement is not that bad. I also think we will see one of them selling stuff on another network or writing a book. Some of this depends on the terms of their retirement package.
They did not know days in advance. QVC did but not those who were laid off. No company lets people know in advance. They bring you in, tell you the news have you sign papers or give you a short time limit to sign them usually 3 days ir so, to accept the severance in lieu of any litigation and Non Disclosure Agreement to make you are not going to talk specifics publically.
They are not coming back to QVC. Find their non-QVC facebook pages. They are both devastated. One usually wants to do their life on their own terms. Not told when they are stopping work.

@Othereeeen I wasn't saying that everyone liked Carolyn & Dan, but merely explaining why I thought the customers who liked them were upset at their dismissal.
Not everyone is liked by everyone & the hosts are no different. However, they are still people with feelings & responsibilities, even though big corporations may view them as a number or a statistic.

I am very sad Carolyn and Dan are gone from QVC. I think this was not a good decision. I purchased many things becasue of the way Dan and Carolyn presented and explained things. I am not watching as much now.

@LizzieInSRQ The company I worked for did tell people many days in advance. There were also given time to decide if they would accept the package.

10,000 people being laid off from Meta & second lay off since November. No severance for them!
Carolyn & Dan are lucky to get a good severance package. How do you know they got a good severance package?? That's speculation.
I was going to ask the same thing. I keep seeing people posting this but how do we know what they got in a severance package?
Qurate offered 400 associates severance packages totalling $24 million. You think Dan and Carolyn were left out of that?
@RollTide2008 It certainly does not mean that they were included.

Absolutely, positively 100% NOT TRUE ( about advance notice).
Having worked in MegaCorp that downsized, people who qualified are offered severance in advance, and given an opportunity to accept or decline it. ESPECIALLY if there could be a "whiff" of age discrimination.
In fact, SOME long term employees, who are traditionally the MOST expensive to keep on the payroll, ASK to be considered for any impending layoff....because they DO know in advance what is happening with the company.
Sometimes it's altruistic...to "save someone else's job"...
For one thing, look at Qurate's stock.(Ticker QRTEA on NASDAQ)
ANYONE at QVC who did/does look that knows the company is in trouble, will cut back anyway, so why not take an offered severance and make the best of it.
Should they have waited til the next round of cutbacks ( and there WILL be one if things don't improve) when NO severance may be forthcoming? Think how bad that would feel.
"I'm going to get canned anyway, I shoulda taken the package when offered."
You can bet in EVERY sales meeting it was discussed that if things DON'T improve, cutbacks would be coming. It's ALL sales. All the time. Nothing else matters.
I'd go so far to bet that they were contractually bound NOT to mention it on air the last days, because of the very reaction we see here in this comment section...people threatening to NOT shop ( the LAST thing QVC needs) or other ridiculous responses to a common business practice.
Not to mention loose nuts that could present a threat at thier campus because the "wrong" hosts were let go. Think about that.
Look at the stock price.
It tells the WHOLE story.... QRTEA.
In five years it's gone from 27.52 a share to 1.06 per share. ( Last night's close).
I'm shocked there weren't MORE layoffs.
As far as "No company "Knows or announces layoffs in advance?"
What about Facebook(META) GM, Twitter, etc?
Facebook has been announcing tranches of upcoming layoffs as they roll them out, for months.
As are many other companies.
FUTURE layoffs announced for all the world to see...IN ADVANCE:
