Carlos Marin is dead

OMG, I'm absolutely shocked and in tears. Carlos Marin, the fabulous Il Divo baritone has died. He had Co-vid and has been hospitalized in critical care for some time. He was placed in an induced coma and intubated. I'm stunned. He had the most beautiful voice. The other Il Divo vocalists must be devastated.

Oh no! I didn't know the name but something had me to open the thread.

Il Divo is so great. I got fortunate to be able to go to one of their concerts here in Reno a number of years ago. It was spectacular and even my husband loved it. They just happened to be here on our anniversary.

All of Il Divo's upcoming concerts were cancelled when he became ill. However, no information was published so we had no idea what was wrong and how terribly sick he was. He and the quartet first came on the scene in 2003, sang with Barbra Streisand. His duet with Celine Dion singing "I Believe in You" was divine, touching and inspiring. His voice was so rich, so warm, so unforgettable. I was watching and listening to IL Divo last night on YouTube. For anyone here who isn't familiar with Carlos Marin and the Il Divo quartet, please look them up and listen to their beautiful voices. You could fall in love.

I should have written a much better title so that this thread and Il Divo would have been recognized. I very, very rarely start threads but this heartbreaking news was really shocking. Like you said, Il Divo was spectacular.

Just listened to their Christmas CD. Didn't know him by name, but knew the voice. So tragic!

Oh, that's cool. I don't remember a lot anymore, so I dont' even know any of their names. But something told me to open the thread. It breaks my heart for any one of these massively talented gentlemen to be gone.

Yes, it was one of my favorite concerts and I'm a rock n roll girl. The talent to be able to sing opera is just beyond and I have a lot of appreciation for that.

His name was not prominent in my mind but that of Il Divo is. What a dreadful loss. Condolences to his loved ones and his three remaining group members.

Had they been performing before large groups recently?
