There is so much fraud it is getting crazy. I got a phone call (I could barely understand the lady). She claimed to be from my car dealer regarding my car warranty. I wondered why the dealer would have a lady that had difficulty speaking English calling customers regarding their warranty.

As she is talking all I could think about was that it was such a large dealer, they could not find a job that she would be better suited. But I let her talk. Then I understood the word warranty. And said I just had the car into the dealer for inspection. And everything was fine with the warranty and hung up. Three days later I got a letter about my warranty expired and I was to call to reinstate the warranty.

Wonder how they got all my information. From the dealer or the Warranty Company?

I can't help but wonder how many people might fall for their pitch. Or maybe I will fall for it in a few years.

Why did you answer the phone?

We don't answer the phone, all those car warranty letters go right into the shredder basket and the e-mails get deleted without even reading.

I keep getting snail mail from Endurance saying my warranty on my 2026 Kia is expired. I just bought it in March and I have a 10 year 100,000 warranty. They must think I'm stupid.

The phone number that appeared on my phone was similar to the number of my dealer.

It's time for everyone to stop answering their phones (especially a land line) and stop reading their junk or spam mail folder.   It should also be fairly easy to spot a junk email in one's inbox.

And there's the issue.  Scammers deliberately make the number seem similar.

We haven't had any spam calls on our landline for several years now, but in the past three weeks, they've been happening daily.  Most of them with a local area code.  I don't answer and I block them.

I'm on the DoNotCall Registry, but for some reason they're still getting through.  We also have a call blocker on our phone.  I'll have to check to see if it's somehow been turned off.

I do wonder, if many of these are calls from politicians or campaign offices, given the upcoming elections.  They always seem to get through!

@Venezia  "I'm on the DoNotCall Registry, but for some reason they're still getting through."

Because it only stops scam calls from WITHIN the USofA.  99.9% of scam calls comes from overseas.

And it only works for legitimate telemarketers.
