@patbz

They are definitely worth it. I have had my home insured with them for a good while. Several years ago, I had a hot water heater that died, and unknown to me caused water damaged to my wall located in my garage. The strangest thing is that I never lost hot water, which is why it took me so long to notice that something was wrong. I called USAA, because of the damage to the wall. They had someone out the same day. I was pretty impressed.

Two weeks ago I received a check from them for $250.00 dollars. The reason listed on the check was that I had overpaid my premium. I am not sure if it's for my car or my home, but I was happy regardless.

Im elgible because I am a Veteran. U.S. Navy.

We switched to State Farm, because they offered a much lower rate...

Well, lo and behold, after a year, they increased our premium based on "blah, blah, blah"

I considered switching to GEICO, but friends have said that they do the same thing - Rope you in with a (relatively) lower rate, and then slap an increase on you, after a year or so.

Disappointing, to say the least. Smiley Sad

The same thing happened to us. We left Allstate a couple of years ago to Hartford.  After the first year it went up and this year it's almost doubled.
I got the same answer as others when I called them.  I have been pricing other companies.

We were with Geico for awhile. Saved a LOT when we switched to Allstate. I need to shop around again. It is a pain but the only way you can get the best rates.

I have read in Consumer Reports that it pays to either change up insurance and/or cable companies from time to time.

Being a long time customer used to mean something years ago.

Now, they just take you for granted, so sometimes we just need to move on.

i have allstate. have been with them for 34 years.. only had 1 accident and it was 100% the other persons fault.. my rate didnt increase then... but i have no tickets, nothing.. i rarely drive i put like 5,000 miles a yr on my car.. my rates are always going up.. i called them yrs ago and the guy did all he can do to get it  lowered.. it did go down for maybe a yr... then right back up again... he said yrs ago when i called complaining that everyones ins. is going up... i get that, but u need to look at the persons file, how long they been with u etc. etc... i also do have renters ins. with them too.. but every 2 yrs it goes up by around 40 every 6 months.. i pay every 6 months... but still about 80.00 a yr increase, i may be going to high, maybe 60 or 70,00  but still,,, its crazy,, but i am scared to switch to a brand new company,. with ur 1st accident, fender bender they could raise your rates by alot... so i been complaining, but staying with allstate... but im not happy.. im wondering if it will go up again.. i paid in march and it increased.. i get it.. everything is going up.. but look at the client... look at their record and how long they been with u... i know we're just a number.. they dont care..

I went to the GEICO office today and am now a customer of theirs. State Farm will have to refund me for a month of my car insurance and about 8 months of renter's insurance. I hope I don't have trouble getting my refunds.

I also go to an independent agent who are not affiliated with any one company. They always do the work for me by searching companies for the lowest rate

I remember the days when your car insurance went down as your car got older. Not anymore. I bought my current car in 2019 and the insurance on it has gone up every year.
I called to complain to State Farm and was told that the increase is due to cost of labor and parts. We've talked about switching to another company, but we haven't done it yet. Our house is also insured with them.

I went Monday to my local GEICO office to make the switch from State Farm for my car insurance and renter's insurance, the agent was going to send them the notices of cancellation on Tuesday. I called yesterday and they had not heard back from State Farm yet. I told them State Farm might give them a problem because when my mom was alive she switched from State Farm to Allstate and they made it difficult for her. Today I got a letter from GEICO that enclosed a NY Credit Disclosure Notice, stating how they look at your credit report that determines your insurance score. They used TransUnion LLC, I hope this doesn't impact negatively on my credit score ( which has gone down, I don't understand why).
