Re: Cancelling magazine subscriptions --- is it possible?

It depends on where you purchased it from.

If you purchased it from somewhere other than the company listed in the magazine, they usually send you back to that company to cancel.

Sometimes, they can offer you another magazine in their "group."

I know when a few magazines I subscribed to went under, they offerred me a few options.  At one point I actually faught for BH&G.  They said it was a "top tier" magazine and they couldn't move me to that but I insisted and they finally relented.

@VaBelle35

As far as I can recall, I believe I ordered the magazines all from the company, so hopefully, this will be easer!  Thanks.

Magazine subs are a problem. We recently got a sub to a magazine that is "headed" by a QVC vendor. I was sent 2 magazines,one I wanted the other I did not order. We sent an e-mail and told them when this was cleared up we would pay. So far no answer to our mail.

I think magazines are notoriously slow in respnding to things.  Hope you get to the bottom of your issue!

@Scootywrote:

I’ve had no problem cancelling magazines.  Google the name of the magazine.  The web site will give you a list of options.  Go to cancel subscription  and fill in the info required.  I then get an email confirming and the credit shows on my credit card.

@Scooty

I have always paid with check, so I am assuming that they can send you back a refund the same way??

[ Edited ]

I've cancelled magazine subscriptions but I was shocked at how little you will receive back as a refund.    Unless you cancel almost immediately you only receive pennies on the dollar for the unsent issues.

I have also tried to cancel a particular magazine and after three letters asking them to cancel, none of which they ever responded to, I finally gave up and just waited out the subscription.

I no longer subscribe to any magazines except Martha Stewart Living.

@AngelPuppy1

It depends on the magizine and/or it's publisher....

This was maybe 5 or 6 years ago but I decided to cancel my subscription to Good Housekeeping, when they changed their editor in chief the magazine no longer interested me---their decorating section was definitely not my style, and seasonal decor ideas were pretty lame, their recipiies were horrid, the only thing I enjoyed was Heloise's tips but that wasnt worth the price of the subscription. Back then there was no info or phone numbers in the front of the magazine on who to contact to cancel, they only gave a mailing address for their publisher. The only phone number you could get with a search was for their publisher who told you to contact the magazine...they were no help on how to do it.......   Their online info was only for new and renewals....

When I tried to google to obtain info, I found LOTS of complaints like mine on not being able to cancel. I finally filed a complaint withe the Better Business Bureau to get the cancelation done.   They have sinced changed their website, but they first try to offer you a 2 yr renewal extension at no cost, if you still want to cancel you can now do it online...

Good Luck on your endeavor!
