Some of you may know that I fractured my back two months ago and am still in the healing process. It ain't fun, but some of it is funny. This is what I did at dinnertime a few nights ago.

I baked a potato, smothered it with Smart Balance, onion powder, parsley and a little grated cheese and added a serving of asparagus. I then carried it into my bedroom (yes, I have learned how to do that while pushing my walker), and put it on the bed. I then went back to the kitchen to get my Ensure and carried that into my bedroom as well, putting it on my night table, then carefully turned around, loosened my back brace, and sat down right into my carefully prepared dinner! I felt it all squish under me and yelled "OH S**T !!!" I got up, picked up the plate, and my brace fell off me. I then sat down quickly on my pillow . . . everything on my butt now transferring to the pillow and the contents left on the plate fell to the floor. At that point I just sat there for about five minutes trying very hard not to cry.

Mind you, I cannot change my bed, which is by then a greasy mess. Somehow I gathered up the strength to slowly clean it up as much as possible, using a towel to drag it into the kitchen and left it by the trash bin. I took clean towels out of the closet and spread them out on the bed, used a different pillow and, after washing myself off as best I could, changed into a nightgown. I didn't even bother trying to make another dinner, but did drink the Ensure. I texted one of my daughters, who came over the next day after work and cleaned everything up. By that time we were laughing about it.

That is not the worst thing that has happened to me since my lucky back break, but I won't tell you the other one!!
