Can't Happen Here?

I was just reading about the 17-year-old that has been charged for a plot to attack students at his high school with homemade explosive devices (homemade grenades).

Unbelievably, even in light of recent events, a student quoted in the article said:

"I didn't think anything like that could happen in Russell County. I thought maybe that's just something that happens everywhere else," said student Qunitin Hobbs.
