I guess I'm lost about this dilemma,
If you don't know the person who is not telling the truth and you don't really know the person(s) who would be hurt by it, how would you call someone out on this? to whom? and where?

If you are super close to that person, you might gently say something. If not, let it go. There is no need to embarrass or humiliate anyone.
