Contact numbers and names are the only ones I answer.  That includes calls with my area code.  If it is important they will leave a voice message.  9 times out of 10 no message is left.

why not? do you answer every call?

@jackthebear

I answer almost all that have a caller ID #.   Could be one of my neighbors or their kids.    Everybody on the block knows I am available in emergencies.

Re: Call Forwarding Scam

[ Edited ]

I delete & block calls from numbers I don't know.

I only answer my phone when my older sister calls. The volume on my phone is turned down most of the time.

I don't carry my phone around with me. It's on my desk unless I leave the house. I'm not getting woke up by a ringing phone. Sure is nice with no home phone.

@Desertdi.  Have yoru ever had a call and your own number was in the caller ID?  They can do that too.  I had one once.

@Kachina624 I remember the first time that happened I stared at the caller id for a bit before I answered. I was curious lol

@Estellee

When we still had our home phone number it popped up on the TV screen while we were watching a movie.

I said how can we be calling ourself? LOL

I'm glad they installed fiber internet here. Also glad we started streaming TV several years ago. We were paying about $130 for DISH & about $130 for cable internet?

Our streaming is $23 per month right now. I sign up to deals during Black Friday.

We have Hulu with Disney $4.99 per month, Paramount $60 1 yr, Peacock $20 1 yr, Starz $12 1 yr, Prime TV comes with Prime but it's $8.99 per month without.

I have been paying $20 per yr for Peacock for several yrs. I will have to start paying about $80 in July.

My monthly payment for streaming will go up to $28 per month. Still better than the $130 for DISH.

I watch a lot of Podcasts on free Youtube.

Our 1gb fiber internet is $60 per month.

@Nightowlz - I found, when I cancelled Peacock (applies to some other streaming services, too), after being notified of a steep price increase, that it wasn't long before I got a really good offer to resubscribe.

I waited to see if they'd make an even better offer, which they did, and I subscribed for a year.

There's no streaming service I need so desperately, that I can't do without it for a month or so.

When I previously had a land line, I received many, many scam calls daily.

Very annoying, and I'm guessing dangerous for seniors / the elderly.  Having to 'run' ( and maybe fall) to their landline phone, thinking it is an important call from a relative, etc.

Not anymore, thank goodness.  Many folks we know have landlines and complain about their many scam and/or unwanted phone calls.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).
