DH & I have been on a number of cruises and the best advise we got was to bring a highlighter pen and a couple clothes pins!

The highlighter was to pick the things we wanted to do each day from the newsletter that comes to your room each evening. In fact, we ended up with 2 different color highlighters so we could each map out our day. The print is small and many of the functions overlap times.

The clothes pins helped in drying swim suits and underwear, and held the curtains closed all the way for day time naps.

Have a great time!!

By the way, gratuities are usually included in the fare you pay so you don't need to worry about that. You are charged and it's distributed among the crew. I've had extra good service from cabin attendants and have left extra cash in an envelope for him.

If you take your cellphone, turn it off and put it inside your safe. When you are out to sea - you are using the ships towers and it's not cheap. Friends and I have all gotten "THE TEXT" from Verizon, AT&T and Sprint saying we our phones were not turned completely off and we'd accumulated $200 worth of roaming charges and that was while phone was in the safe. Making calls while in port off the ship in most islands south of Florida cost about $1.99/minute and that's much cheaper than using your phone at sea. Internet is available onboard but it is expensive and slow.

I'm another that uses a lanyard with a small pouch attached so I don't lose my room key. No cash is used anywhere but the casino - just know that anytime someone asks for your room key, you are probably paying for whatever you are asking and those costs are accumulating on your onboard tab and those charges go to the credit card you present prior to boarding. If you lose your room key, it's like losing your wallet or credit card - anyone that finds it can charge things to your account. All sodas, specialty coffees, and booze all cost extra. All cruise lines usually offer a card which offers a cheaper cost for so many punches for purchase for sodas, specialty coffees, and drinks. At meals and in the buffet you will usually find ice tea and lemonade and regular coffee free. Friends and I love to cruise - especially when it's cold here and the kids are all in school. Have fun.

What is this please?

Also Celebrity has offered two free packages:

One is free gratuities and the other is the free beverage package by signing up early, which we did. My daughter and I are not drinkers but bottled water and soda would be nice.

Also, thanks for the internet speed.I have a calling card with 1,000 minutes which I am sure will be used up quickly, but only my daughter would care to call home.

Also I have Virgin Mobile and I have no calls out of the US, so that takes care of that.

Again thank you for your kind responses, I appreciate them all

I am guessing you mean swim wear? I got some from a very reasonable online store, if anyone is interested. it is http://www.swimsuitsforall.com/

I got a very pretty bathing suit and cover up for great prices.

Celebrity is an amazing cruise line, we have cruised with them 5 times and never have been disappointed. Many lines offer wifi on board for a fee, that would be a good way to use your phone if you want to. A hair dryer has always been a must for me, since the one in the bathroom is more like a hot air hose with no power. If you are prone to sea sickness get a script for Trans derm scop its a patch worn behind your ear and helps with the mal de mer.

Stop being afraid of what could go wrong and start being positive what could go right.
