CNN Fires Senior Producer of Jake Tapper's Show

"Variety" says this a.m. that three employees of Jake Tapper's "State of the Union" have reported inappropriate workplace conduct on the part of Teddy Davis, senior producer at the CNN show. Interesting how fast the firings are happening now.

Quite a number of years ago, similar allegations rocked the medical field. Doctors were accused of taking liberties with female patients and dentists were accused of taking liberties with patients who were "under".

Male doctors notoriously abused/harassed other female doctors and nurses. Like in the case of Hollywood, it was a dirty secret rarely mentioned.

I guess the malpractice insurance companies got tired of making payments so now you are never left alone with a doctor in an exam room with the door closed. Most of the newer dentist offices are designed more like cubicles or pony walls.

They will tell you it's to protect YOU but I'm sure most of it is part of their insurance coverage to limit lawsuit exposure.

It's a shame that we women are still fighting for equality in the workplace. Still fighting for respect and security. This should not be happening to women today.

These events are shocking, not only because of the awful nature of the behaviors that are alleged but also because of the sheer number of accusations that are coming out in a deluge. I do think that some allegations are far worse than others, yet there is a clear, common thread...powerful men abusing younger women. The sense of entitlement that these men exhibit in their disgusting behavior is mind-boggling. I sincerely hope that real changes in the workplace will be the result of the sacrifices these women made in coming forward. It is abundantly clear that coming forward was an exercuse in futility until VERY recently.

In the case of Matt Lauer, NBC was his co-conspirator. Lauer's behavior over the years was very evident, yet he was the cash cow and NBC wouldn't do anything.

There was much that could be done. Ongoing regular education for ALL employees. Mentoring, accountability.

Same with Bill O'Reilly but in his case he still denies anything happened.

He was the Fox cash cow.

These big news companies are complicit. They helped make that monster.

It's not interesting or unexpected at all; the women are all coming forward now because their is strength in numbers and now they can tell their stories and upper management will listen and take action. And then their lawyers can hammer out the financial settlement.

@ValuSkr, I've been wondering about your point. The way that TV news shows are structured, wouldn't you think that the on-air talent would have knowledge of a senior procducer's proclivities? Do the journalists who lead their own shows make it their business to know how things and people function on their program.

I would have thought they would. As misdeeds involving journalistic shows unfold, it will be interesting to see how culpable they would be considered to be.
