In the past year, I have been ordering many pieces of clothing from Land's End. They were 40-60% off and free shipping.
While checking the labels, I have noticed that none of the tops, have been made in China.
Today's tops that came in are from Cambodia, India and Kenya. Has anyone else noticed this lately ?
BTW, all were perfect fit and of very good quality.

That's good to know, @Flatbush . We get all their catalogs, and my husband gets a lot of his clothes there, but I haven't ordered in quite a while. Will have to give them another look!

@Flatbush. About 3-4 years ago, when prices started rising, there was a move in the industry to use manufacturers in other countries. Why? Remember the tariff on Chinese goods? It's still in effect and they can sell good 15-20% less if they don't have to pay the tariff, which is a savings for consumers.
I don't think any D&C is being made in China. It may explain the higher prices of some other lines.
As a side note, last weekend I heard a report that the Chinese economy is doing poorly with a high unemployment rate.

Yes, I have noticed that lately but I like them. I read a recent post about this somewhere recently (not sure where) but took it as a positive.

Viet Nam is another place I've noticed in labels.

A lot of clothing have long stopped being made in China. The economy grew so much, they had to pay people there more money. Most clothing now is made in Bangladesh, Vietnam, etc.

@MoJoV Yes, I have seen Vietnam on labels also.

Yes, @Flatbush, this has been going on for some time. Companies are becoming wary of doing business in China because China requires foreign companies to give them an ownership stake and steals their intellectual property. The regulatory envirpnment can change on a dime. The severe terms of the covid-lockdowns further encouraged companies to take their business elsewhere.
