Class never runs scared. It is surefooted and confident and it can handle whatever comes along.
Class has a sense of humor. It knows that a good laugh is the best lubricant for oiling the machinery of human relations.
Class never makes excuses. It takes its lumps and learns from past mistakes.
Class knows good manners are nothing more than a series of petty sacrifices.
Class bespeaks an aristocracy unrelated to ancestors or money. A pure blood can be totally without class while the son of a Welsh miner may ooze class from every pore.
Class can "walk with kings and keep its virtue and talk with crowds and keep the common touch."
Everyone is comfortable with the person who has class because he is comfortable with himself.
================================
Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn's rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there, I did not die.

This is one of my favorite poems @Lindsays Grandma, it was written in 1932 by Mary Elizabeth Frye. Thanks for sharing! ![]()

I guess I don't have the "class" gene. I'm not only scared but terrified of this hurricane that my 90 year old mother is facing this evening and tomorrow with her aide in her south Florida condo.

"Do not stand at my Grave and Weep" ...was also made into a song sung by Catherine Jenkins. It's beautiful.

@haddon9 That doesn't mean you don't have class! I'd be terrified, too. If you are so inclined, pray. I do that and it helps to relieve that "helpless" feeling when you are far away. Be strong.

I like and try to live by much those words have say about life and people. While genetics are passed on, to me it does not mean that the control anyone's destination in life, some use them as reasons(excuses) for many things in their lives, when in fact, it is their shortcomings and/or decisions that move them towards who they are as a person.
Where one started, in my opinion and own life's experience, has shown me that it is the choices a person makes and their character that are the major factors of the type of life they live. Like other things in life that are not easy, a person usually gets out of their life as much as they are willing to invest. Work hard/set goals and depend on only themselves to make a life they can enjoy living every single day.
I include the words you include in you sign off phrase. Nobody is guaranteed a tomorrow, so it is best to live mostly in the present, and look to only the near future. For those up in years that have lived more life than they have left, all of the above have even more meaning.
Nice post you have started and I thank you,
