I have only ever known one person who does a Christmas letter. She does it because her husband is a retired minister who has taught in Europe and they have many friends worldwide who are genuinely interested in keeping up with them and their kids & grandkids. I've never considered it a brag letter because she's someone I care about. But yeh, getting those letters from people you *don't* care about would be bo-ring.

I've never done it, but sometimes I do feel like writing one of those Christmas letters.  Except it would be more like a Christmas paragraph.  There are some years when you really do have a few "newsworthy" things to share, and I get tired of writing the same thing over and over in every card.
