Re: CDC: Fully Vaccinated People Can Go Without Masks INDOORS and Outdoors!

I had my taxes done at HRBlock today and everyone was wearing a mask and there was still a sign on the door to wear one.  I'm fully vaccinated since March but will still be wearing a mask at this point.

I don't know about other people but I'm still wearing a mask.  My husband's nephew who is about 47 years old got covid last week in New Mexico.  He believed he got it at work.  He is in the hospital and is now on a ventilator and feeding tube. Don't know if he's going to make it.   He went in about a week ago.   I don't know what to believe anymore.

We have been going to the big box stores since the pandemic started and now that the mask mandate has been lifted, we no longer feel it's a good idea.  Just today we saw people acting like there was never a pandemic at all, going maskless coughing and some who were sneezing and not placing their face into the crook of their arm but just throwing all caution to the wind.  If you really want to see the dregs of humanity like you've never seen them before, watch.   We were all masked and so we forgot how uncouth some people are.  You too will feel repulsed and sick to your stomach

So far, here in Kentucky, I've been in a couple stores and my fitness center since our govenor said we will be following the CDC guidelines about going without a mask.  I haven't seen any store policy changes at all.  The stores still want people to mask up, and the fitness center is still requiring masks and social distancing.  The lockers available are still six feet apart as are the exercise machines.

I don't think people around here are going to be too quick to jump on the "no mask" bandwagon.

Man plans. God laughs.

I agree with you @agb80 there are people out there that are absolutely disgusting. I too have witnessed it.

@SeaMaiden

I am also for people getting the vaccine, but  has to be their choice. I am the only one in my family that got it, my sons refuse.  I don't wear it outside, but do inside of stores.  The honor system doesn't work for me.

I wear my mask around family. Too bad.

Your mask doesn't really protect you. Other people's masks protect you.

Your mask prevents your germs from spewing and floating all over other people. Your mask doesn't protect you very much from unmasked people's germs spewed when they cough or talk to you. Unless you are wearing a specific type of mask, any germs floating in the air can still get at you from the sides of your mask.

You can wear a mask all you want, but you're protecting others when you mask, not yourself. If you're vaccinated, day to day, you really don't need to protect others from yourself when it comes to Covid.  While it's technically possible for you to still get mild Covid and need to mask then, it's not statistically very likely on any given day.

Unvaccinated people are the people who should mask because they can easily become Covid infected and infect others. Their likelihood of being infected and not knowing it is much much higher.

This ruling puts nonvaccinated people at a much higher risk from each other than before. Not all of them are going to go along with an honor system to be honest about their vaccination status and wear a mask. But...most of the unvaccinated have knowingly accepted the risk of Covid, so that fact makes me a little more ethically comfortable with accepting what I personally consider to be their unwise decision. Not that they ever needed my permission or approval for any of it.

And even if you are Covid vaccinated and wear a mask, if others don't do the same, you can easily get the same old colds as before.

When you’re accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression.

I sense most vaxers are sick of the adolescent stunts of non-vaxers.  Vaxers are now basically safe and are moving on with their lives.

Well I got a call this morning from a younger cousin of mine who is a physician in Los Angeles.  The main purpose of calling was to tell me to continue to wear a mask.  Since there is no way to know for sure who is vaccinated or not and considering what I have read on these forum and seen on TV I really don't trust anyone to tell the truth and that is sad.

Now that it's optional, I am no longer going to the grocery stores or really any store that still requires a mask.  It's all theater anyway.
