There should be some way the public could donate time and or money directly to the wounded soldiers. Why do people think you need someone with an MBA to coordinate and distribute funds, they most always end up legally lining their own pockets with the donations.

I've heard about the misuse of donations for this charity and many, many others.
I'm not going to feel guilty for donating to them, or other charities, or the man on the street.

For reference, Charity Navigator gives American Cancer Society a 76 and the Red Cross an 80.
Shriners and St. Jude's Hospitals are both 88.

My Dad was a Shriner. He worked hard for years with them so children could receive free treatment, no charge for anything.
