I keep our med bottles in a shoebox in the kitchen pantry. Every Sunday I refill our weekly pill organizers - so each morning we only need to open the pill organizer and take the pills that are in there. In the master bath I have another weekly pill organizer with DH's meds he is supposed to take before bed so when he finishes brushing his teeth he can just take them. This has worked well for us for a number of years now.

If a person is not able mentally to keep their meds straight you can ask the pharmacist to fill those little daily organizers for them - most pharmacies will do that for a regular customer.

What about something from Caboodles?

I only read your title and can tell you what we did for our folks. My mom came up with it. When we had to head to the hospital we'd put all their meds in a kit like a guy takes his shaving stuff in, in his luggage. (We'd do the same for mom if we had to get her to the hospital too.) Not both at once of course. When at home, we used a circular tray on the table by his pill container. That way it all was at hand for us to set up for them. Mom kept hers in another area so they didn't get mixed up, but also by her pills separator for the week.
My husband's scripts set in a lock and lock on top of the frig. He just takes the container down after he has lunch or just before, and takes his.

I have an old clear Clairol Herbal Essence zip case that I probably got years ago at a drug store with some product in it. It holds my 8 bottles of meds plus a large bottle of vitamin D3.
Not as pretty as the Caboodle (above), but it does the trick. Once a week I fill up a "weekly" pill box.

I just have one suggestion for you. Whatever you decide, tell her not to place it on a counter or out in the open.
My mom takes many pain pills for a degenerative condition, and a nursing assistant came back one Saturday night and busted through a window and ran off with her Zilpoc bag of meds (which she had on the kitchen counter). The cops think it was to sell them. Sigh.
