A generator is great.  We have one.  But when you have used the amount of gas stored, where does one get more gas if there is no power where you live?  You need power to pump gas.  We lived through a longer term power outage years ago during a massive hurricane and had to eventually leave our home.

my husband stock piles gallons before any kind of threat so he won't have to fight dangerous crowds of desperate people and don't advertise the fact so people won't know we have it.

Prayers to all in California who are going through these horrendous, difficult times.  And to all the fire fighters and others trying to save everyone.

@SharkE  I'm sure you are married to a smart man that follows the EPA mandatory regulations on how many gallons can be stored at a residence.  Stock piling gallons?  The EPA and local fire departments are pretty clear on how many gallons can be legally stored.

I am glad I no longer live in CA.  That is really terrible that some residents of CA have to go without electricity.

I wish I knew what it took for any State that finds itself in such a terrible predictament where a utility company has continually shown incompetence and failure to keep the public safe, for action to be taken to formally remove that utlitiy company and replace it with one that is competent. News has stated the current fire is also from above ground live wires that were not turned off.
