I ordered 2 items from e bay from 2 different sellers, on the same day. Both were paid by pay pal. I have received notice from pay pal that both were paid. One is already at my local post office and the other has not shipped yet. I haven't received any notice from the seller at all. My question is - how long should I wait  from the day I purchased before notifying e bay? BTW - I sent the seller a e mail but got no response. I understand that the seller could be away from home etc. for a few days so I don't want to be a PIA - but I would like some indication they received my order beside that they took payment from pay pal.

What kind of customer ratings do they have?  If they are good, he/she could be sick or dealing with a family emergency

I only buy from sellers that have a 99% or better rating. Hopefully yours does. Most of the time it states in their info that they ship in 48 hours. I have seen where people have said they will be out of town or something and will ship on a date when they return. I say give her until Monday.

Check status of order to see if it has shipped.  Call eBay and let them know the situation.  You will need to provide eBay with information (seller, dates, item#, cost, status) and they have a procedure you must follow ... ex: email seller to ask if item has shipped, waiting time for seller to respond, etc.  I believe eBay also contacts seller.  After a set time frame eBay will refund your money if no response and block seller from eBay.  I had it happen once and eBay will help you.  Just call them and ask for assistance.

If I didn't hear anything in a week from purchase, I'd contact ebay.

Where is it coming from?  We have had bad snow storms and ice over the last few weeks in various parts of the country.  They may not have mail pickup or mail delivery may be slow due to weather.

Usually the listing indicates how quickly it ships.  I believed this is tied to the price the seller pays to list.  I haven't sold in a while, but I remember there were a number of options when creating my listing and one had to do with how quickly you intend to ship.

Also, keep in mind, that the person may have shipped it first class mail or bulk rate (not sure what you purchased) and may have indeed shipped it but not marked it shipped in the system.

Many times, my items is marked shipped immediately after payment as the seller has printed the label, but it doesn't make it to the post office for a few days.

When a seller goes on vacation, it'll usually tell you when they'll be back up and running.  Until they are back, your order will have to wait until they get back to ship.  However, communication should not stop.  I always have my phone (with eBay ap), or my laptop and can still receive emails from customers and the seller should always stay in touch.

Give it some reasonable time and then contact eBay.  Your purchase is guaranteed and eBay is really good about it..... Woman Happy

you can report to ebay and they will let you know if, according to their rules, it is too soon and when you can file a complaint.

you should however, contact the seller first, ebay will request that first.

Thanks everyone. Apparently the seller is in communication enough to accept the payment from pay pal, so I feel they should have somehow acknowledged to me they got the order.

Re: Buying from e bay

There's no reason to call ebay. What you do is wait until after the last estimated delivery date. If you still haven't received the item, you can open an item not received case by going to your Purchase History and selecting that from the drop-down menu on the right. I don't ever expect to hear from my sellers; some communicate, some don't. What I do expect is to receive the item in the condition described somewhere around the estimated delivery dates. Personally, I usually wait about a week after that before even contacting the seller.

Calling ebay is just a waste of time since there's nothing they can or will do until after the last estimated delivery date. Now they may tell you what you want to hear, but that's it.
