I recently joined a bullet journaling group on Face Book and I haven't got a clue what I should be doing.Smiley Very Happy

I think it is supposed to be a more to the point goal oriented type of journal but I don't even know.

Some of us have never heard of it, so, here's what google says,

The Bullet Journal is an analog system created by Ryder Carroll, a Designer based in New York. In his words, the Bullet Journal is meant “to help you track the past, organize the present, and plan for the future.”Jan 22, 2016

I've been doing it for a couple of years now.  At work they stopped giving us a planner/agenda because we can sync everything in our online/digital calendars.  I still like to have things written down even though I also keep things documented in my Apple/Exchange calendar and Google Drive.

I guess the best tip I can offer is to color code things.  I use one color for personal things/events, and other colors assigned to work categories.  I use the Sharpie pens that don't bleed through the page.  Color coding helps me easily find things at a glance.

Dollar Tree and drugstores like Walgreens and CVS have had some good deals on blank journals. The drugstores often have them in the clearance sections,  I've gotten several for just a dollar or less.  As a teacher, I sometimes keep a separate detailed journal as a reference for the major novel units I teach and parent contacts.

I have started a diet and I will do a daily journal of what I eat and the carbs/fats each day as I have goals for max amount of carbs and fats I can eat daily. I do not, however require that I coordinate my journaling with anyone else or anyone's ideas of how to do it. I do it for me and only I need to keep track of it. I do plan to do carbs in blue and fats in red just to make a quick look back for something simpler.

Re: Bullet Journaling

[ Edited ]

Okay, I had to google it too and I have to say, in my humble opinion, I have never seen anything violate the KISS rule (Keep It Simple, Stupid) more than this.

BUT, if it works for you (and I can see the appeal of it), it's a great organization tool.  I'm just good with crossing things off my list and making a new list when it gets too messy rather than creating a table of contents, an index, and a new nomenclature for the status of each thing on my list.  These people must have a LOT of time on their hands and I really admire them to go through it all.

I am also going to take a moment to say I appreciate my new Google Home lists more than ever now.  Heart
