Wow!  We don't have elk here in SE PA but plenty of deer.  I have seen elk when driving up in NH.  What state are you in?

@haddon9    There is a nation preserve about an hour or so from my house called the Valles Caldera.  It was an 90,000 acre ranch that the government bought about 15 years ago, a gorgeous property.

Anyway they have a large elk herd that often grazes in a meadow below the grade of the road that goes by it.  I like to take visitors up there and sometimes we see the elk, hundreds of them.

Also, Ted Turner has a large ranch in Northern NM with a large elk herd.  He even has a wildlife manager to assure they are healthy and happy.

@On It    You are definitely "on it" with your beautiful photos.  Thanks so much for sharing them.

Elk are magnificent creatures and like all need to be respected.  Love the one relaxing after a good meal.
