I'm in Dallas-Ft. Worth. Population explosion. No natural geographic barriers to stop sprawl. In a 10 year period 1,000,000 people moved here. Patchwork zoning and pro-business environment created building boom of EVERYTHING good, bad, and ugly.

Not sure it's just me, but I'm curious as to what state the posters live in as I have no clue where anyone lives. I'm interested in knowing where this growth is happening. I live in a close-in suburb of NYC so there has been very little open land around here for a long time.
The US population has increased by 100,000,000 just in the last 30 years, the bulk of it made up by immigration. For me, I'd be happier with slower population growth.
The growth in 10 years in the area of Colorado Springs by 250,000, yikes, way too many people.
I live in a Northern Suburb of Philadelphia. At one time there were quite a bit of farms. But the farms have been all sold off to build Mega Mansions. Also, there is an influx of people from Philadelphia, New York and New Jersey moving here.
Housing prices are going crazy. And many of the houses are selling the first day they are on the market.

So interesting that in our area we have grocery stores closing and Walmarts taking over. I absolutely despise WM and to drive to a regular grocery store is in another neighboring city. We also have banks popping up as well as what I call rabbit hutches....three story condos with about 100 units in each building. Sounds like growth is everywhere...just different. I call it over-development. Not a fan.
