I was wondering if there are any fellow budgie owners out there who can help me with an issue that has cropped up in the last few days. My parakeet, Chica, has recently started rooting and digging furiously in her food bowl, spewing seeds everywhere. She has never done this before, and I can't figure out why she's doing it. I don't think she's bored, as she has toys in her cage, as well as a mirror. I was wondering if this is some kind of nesting behavior, but as I said, she's never done this in the few years I've had her. I don't know her history, as she came to me via someone walking down the street who saw that I had other birds and wondered if I wanted another one. Chica's previous owner had died, so I took her in. She's not affectionate as far as wanting to be held or petted. I can't figure out why she's started doing this. It's getting loud and very messy! lol Anyone ever had a budgie that has suddenly started digging and spewing food everywhere? Thanks for reading my rambling post!
