I am 75, DH 74. I definitely need it on hIm. If he dies before me his military pension, SS and part time job income go with him. I wouldn't have enough money to live on.

You would still get his SS.  Not much but helps!

@Zhills Maybe but not both.  She would get the higher of his or hers.

Re: Budget concerns-action steps

@smoochy ....I do not have that brand of silicone containers but I do have a set...there are four individual sections  with a lid in the brand that I bought.

It is just me and my husband at our house so when I make a 9x13 casserole I have a lot to freeze.  One section is a decent helping for one person...I put meatloaf, cheese potatoes, chili, etc.  They are nice and once frozen the food just pops out for reheating.

OGGI prep and portion silicone freezer storage is a good brand, and their 1 cup portions (3 in a covered tray) are $10 now at Amazon, which is a good price.  Just FYI

so do you just use this for soup or what

@smoochy Soup, chili, veggies, chicken and surround it with a little broth, rice, broth, whatever fits!  We thaw the blocks in out cast iron rice cooker on very low heat, new to us, and it is perfect!  They thaw pretty quick in it.

Re: Budget concerns-action steps

And we can pop out the frozen sections of the super cubes, put them in a bag if needed and use the trays again.  But one thing we are trying to do is keep a few in the freezer and eat them in the next 3 weeks rather than not using it--like with the freezer bags.  So we are being very good about rotation and uses!!!!!!
