Why do I think they deny it - because of what Ford has been posting about her daughter's inability to get disability benefits based on the Dx of chronic lyme disease. Haven't you read all of her posts about this?

I guess that's why Yolanda Foster had to go to Asia to get further treatment.

I'm not going by shopping forum posts or Hollywood reality TV, I just go by the facts of it. It IS formally recognized by the medical community and you can look up the ICD 9 code and the treatment and insurance coverage. It's just a fact.Smiley Happy (eta: Thanks for answering though, I think you were misled.)

It's not considered by some to be a psychiatric disorder. That doesn't mean it isn't.

Noel, I've learned some people don't understand it's illogical to have an opinion on a fact. I like this quote:

"You don't need people’s opinion on a fact. You might as well have a poll asking: ‘Which number is bigger, 15 or 5?’ or ‘Do owls exist?’ or ‘Are there hats?'" (John Oliver)

That without a doubt that says it all. That is a great quote! But wait, they didn't say WHAT kind of owls exist!! hahah, you know someone will ask.

When my grandaughter was 9, I was commenting on something, and said, "Does a Bear poop in the woods?" she thought and she said, "A Polar Bear doesn't" Always a wise guy in the in the group.

Once again, it's all about the facts. Valid opinions are almost always based on facts.

The medical community says there's no such thing as Lyme disease, either....they're apparently wrong there. Believe it or not, they're not infallible.

We're not talking about a virus or bacteria, we're talking about transgender. And you are wrong, it is not considered a psychiatric disorder, no matter how many of you wish it was. The DSM is the official reference for all psychiatric disorders and types of mental illness. It's written by the experts, and they say transgender is NOT a disorder or mental illness.

Yes, I'm aware of the subject at hand. I know what DSM is. "The experts" ALSO deny Lyme disease; so if they can be wrong about that, they can be wrong about this.

You are wrong.

Why do you think they deny it? There's a diagnostic code ICD 9 for Lyme disease and there's diagnosis and treatment and research ongoing.

Uh oh. Additional facts. Not ok for some.

Okay, I didn't see this snarky post before I replied. Obviously some people can't rationally discuss this without personal attacks, so I'm out! {#emotions_dlg.w00t}

Poor Bruce, what did that battleaxe do to him????

I hope it's not true! Until I hear this from his possibly puffed-up lips, I'm not buying into it ~ this may be speculation just to get people to watch his show, I don't know, but I'll believe it when I hear it from HIM! (even then it will be hard to believe!)

I think you're out because you didn't have the facts and are not interested in reexamining your original assumptions which proved to be incorrect.

I guess Yorkie was embarrassed to be wrong. But it happens to all of us, anyway, we just say "oops! I was wrong" {#emotions_dlg.blushing} and move on.Smiley Happy

I'll agree with that.

I'm out, too, but that's because the dinner bell just went off. Chicken picatta, healthy version Smile

Ooops.

This has nothing to do with Bruce Jenner but of course there is acute versus chronic disease. Medicine is just beginning to understand the possible CHRONIC issues with Lyme. It certainly is possible to get treatment in the USA but the disease is not well understood on how to treat if early treatment with doxycycline does not prevent neuromuscular and cognitive complications. Many docs on not well educated on it but it is getting lots of attention lately with research studies and possible vaccine.
