FYI -- "Online ticket buyers will be contacted automatically regarding refunds or exchanges. Those who purchased in-person should contact Telecharge."  I'm surprised that you haven't received an email with your new date.  I saw a lot of posts on Facebook from people with original tickets on all different dates and all were notified on the same day.  You might want to follow-up on the status of your tickets.

Is there such a thing as a job that a person knows they will never lose?  One could lose much more than a job in today's environment, they could lose their life.

Thank you for the info. I go with a group with our JCC so they're dealing with all the details. I just got my first refund for Hadestown. Sadly more to come.

I don't quite understand your reply🤷‍♀️.  Even if one is retired or with a job -- everyone I know (and I'm sure on these forums) is somehow feeling the effects of COVID-19 and more.  There are many facets of this virus including the "unknown".

 

I think you are misinformed.

@reiki604   I know.  We received refunds for Company and Six.  The number of people unemployed at theaters all across the country is unfathomable.  So many smaller theaters probably won't be able to recover.  Heartbreaking times for so many industries.

Dealing with the virus and dealing with the economic devistation are two different things.  Those who are not working or dependent on a paycheck to live have a much different perspective than those who need to work to feed their families.  It is very apparent from the various post on these boards.

Someday, when scientists discover the center of the Universe....some people will be disappointed it is not them.

When I was listening to the story about the theater closings on NPR yesterday, all I could think of was the fact that people whose careers depend on this industry were professionally wiped out. It's not just that they and the entire body of workers who put on shows will be out of work, it's that they won't have the opportunity to build their professional reputations. Young talent won't be launched. While it's possible to view people performing online, it is not the same as the live experience.

 

Being deprived of income is bad enough, but being professionally compromised adds an unthinkable aspect to this disaster.

 

I'm in the category you've posited as not understanding how people can be hurt by this, and I think I have an inkling. But it's hard for me to imagine their experience, beyond devastating unemployment.

What I see from a lot of people is they say close it all down for as long as needed to contain this virus. Meanwhile their job or financial position in life is secure. How can people say that and not think of the people losing jobs or businesses? Like those people don't matter one bit. If you're not one of those people then it seems obvious I was not speaking of you.
