Re: Breaking: Empire State Building Protest

I guess I just don't see taking extreme risk to oneself and others

should be congratulated or celebrated in any way.

I realize others disagree and find it something to admire.

Also unnecessarily tying up police and rescue when there are so many other crimes and people to attend to, creates problems that they don't need.

Since they’re both Russian nationals you would have thought they knew if convicted of Felony charges they would be deported. 😳

As well as a permanent lifetime ban from ever entering the United States again. 🥴

@RescueLover I was thinking the same thing. If they get convicted of felonies, I think that's an automatic goodbye.

I wonder if a judge’s court order could ban them from all landmark public buildings in the US ?

@RescueLover The only judges with that jurisdiction are the Supreme Justices and this criminal law is not what they do.

Honestly, who could do it in a hot second, is Instagram and the rest of the social media platforms. That's how these people make their money.

If they ban these two from all of the major social media platforms, they have zero reason to climb and no financial incentive to do it. They would strangle them financially and stop the copycats who are going to get themselves killed.

If I was Mark Zuckerberg, their IG account would have been down the second they started livestreaming up there. And they wouldn't get it back. The liability alone when a kid kills themselves after watching those videos on their account on his platform would motivate me and it should him.

You have to start hitting GenZ where they live which is online. Just like our parents did. You can't play with it nicely and responsibly, it goes away.

@Laura14 Brilliant!  Brava!  A lot of the trouble these days is because scammers, people like this, and more aren't punished.  You are absolutely right.  Society doesn't demand much, so doesn't get much.

Body cam photos

Angela Nikolau is arrested by NYPD ESU officers on top of the Empire State Building.

A person with blurred face is apprehended by an NYPD ESU officer on top of the Empire State Building.

These two are just stupid. If one had fallen and landed on a pedestrian and killed them would everyone still think this is so cool?

Re: Breaking: Empire State Building Protest

@Sooner Thank you. I honestly don't understand why this is hard.

Logical consequences. Remove the privilege of social media which negates the financial stream and incentive to do it and it goes away.

They probably made their bail money and legal fees in the first ten minutes they were up there, and then some.

Unless you have permission to perform like that, no ma'am and no, sir.

Re: Breaking: Empire State Building Protest

Like the NYC police have nothing better to do. The Knicks games & watch parties, FIFA traffic getting to NJ, 7/4 fireworks & celebrations, daily protests & the thoughtless Swift/Kelce fiasco. I live in NJ but worked in NYC most of my career. NYC police are the best in the world, no police force has to handle what they do on a daily basis.
