Re: Break down of all caes of the virus State by State

59 now in TN with hardly any testing. And that's not including all those chuckleheads who got caught partying in downtown Nashville this weekend in huge numbers, crammed in every which way.

Actually, Louisiana has 4 deaths as of this morning. We have a retirement home cluster of cases, and another of those patients died this morning. Thanks for posting the list, @songbird

I would agree these numbers aren't accurate as there are carriers and not enough testing being done.

I live at a densely populated state so of course it stands to reason more cases are here and i would think that will reflect case numbers also, populations.

New York's numbers are disturbing.  And it's probably higher than reported if there is a shortage of test kits.

Re: Break down of all caes of the virus State by State

I live in rural West Virginia and I work in the public school system. TBH I am sure there are cases in my state but they are very picky as to who they will test. Yesterday in his press conference, our governor said there were only approximately 500 tests to go around for the entire state. As of the last I heard, 80 people have been tested with no positives.

I am not sure what is going on as far as the supply of tests, but it concerns me because there are a big elderly population percentage in the state. I will be honest, I don’t watch the news 24/7 because it’s overwhelming when it’s all they talk about. It makes me anxious. Right now I’m watching Gunsmoke! 🙂

I see West Virginia still has no confirmed cases of the virus, however quite a few people in the state have been tested, with the majority negative, and a few tests are still pending.   All testing has been done in Charleston.

As to why my state is the last to be affected, I’m not sure.   Yes, we are a rural state.   We do have cities and towns, developed neighborhoods, apartment buildings, townhouses, etc., but generally we are not living in crowded areas.   Our grocery stores, movie theaters, and shopping areas are not the crowds many of you deal with.

West Virginia has no big international airports where many thousands of people come thru daily.  I don’t fly, but think many of our state airports are used mainly for connecting flights.   The smaller airport in my county is used mainly by private and corporate planes.   I am aware of people flying out of Yeager airport in our capitol city of Charleston, but many residents drive to Roanoke, VA or Charlotte, NC for their flights.   I feel the majority of residents here travel like me, by personal vehicle; some cities and counties offer daytime transit authority bus travel, but we have no subways, and few taxi or Uber services.

Medical care is not an issue.  Even without insurance, we have health departments and clinics proving care for low income residents, our hospitals provide charity care, and many residents have Medicaid.   No one HAS to go without medical here; anyone who does, just does not know who to reach out to for help.

Our colleges and universities have very high numbers of international students.   Most of these students arrive for school in August, and stay until the school year ends in May, there are no trips home for holidays.

The stats are also listed on the CDC site.

I hate it  when people say everyone has access to health care  they just don't know who to reach out to.
