The children told police that Oxenham proceeded to use a lighter to burn a stick and injured the children's arms by touching the hot stick to them. Then, Oxenham told the kids she burned them for two reasons: the first is so the kids could have ice cream, and the second was to identify the children as being hers.

Medical exams for the children showed at least one of them had injuries indicative of the burning.

Prior to the burning incident, Oxenham is accused of grabbing her 5-year-old by the hair and hitting her head into a wall repeatedly. She declined to talk to police about the alleged burns, and denied beating her children.

Oxenham's occupation listed on the Charlotte County Jail website is medical assistant.

I do hope they remove those poor children from this woman's custody. That is scary behavior.

These kinds of things get my blood absolutely boiling. Boil. Ing. Get her some mental health help, please. Oh, and put her in jail. Those poor, innocent kids.

It's quite probable someone did that and worse to her when she was a child. While that doesn't in any way mitigate her behavior, it shows that violence is taught.

I hope these children don't end up dead. Her eyes are scary looking. So many cases fall through the cracks and the children pay the price with their lives. I hope someone steps in and looks out for these poor children before it's too late.

I guess when you do the math, it explains a lot. She's 23 and has a 7 year old. ${#emotions_dlg.ohmy}$ Too bad that after having two kids she hasn't matured enough to be a parent. Maybe if they're removed from her custody she will make better choices and prove that she has what it takes to be a parent.
