Lots of good info here re: physiatrists. I'm going to share with several folks who just might benefit from docs in this/these specialized field(s).

I actually enjoy most of your posts UNTIL you get on these threads and you lose all credibility by making excuses, condoning and encouraging her. Trying to placate the OP is doing nothing good for her.

And constant ragging on her does all the good in the world. If people do not agree/like what OP says, why bother to even reply? Some people just can't help themselves, I guess.

So true. {#emotions_dlg.thumbup1}

I say brain doctor because I don't have a neurologist............he is a doctor that I can't spell so it is just easier for me to say brain doctor because he works with brain patients and spinal injury patients..........

RRR I don't understand your post. what is it that you want to know? the name of the type of Dr. that you go to?

or did you just start a post just to start a post?

Well, you have a choice, neurologist, neurosurgeon or physiatrist.

that is it physiatrist.........but when I posted one time people kept trying to say I meant a therapist so I just started saying brain doctor and I can't get this spelling down in my head for physiatrist. Mark my word someone will think it is a therapist of the mind..........I have already been there with this board and bought the t shirt.

Do you mean psychiatrist?

My head is in a whirl at some of your posts {#emotions_dlg.confused1}

What is a Physiatrist

Physiatrists, or rehabilitation physicians, are nerve, muscle, and bone experts who treat injuries or illnesses that affect how you move

Rehabilitation physicians are medical doctors who have completed training in the medical specialty of physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R). Specifically, rehabilitation physicians

Well, 'anyway', I hadn't previously heard of this word/field. So, it's something to ask our docs if we should ever need these specific services/med. care/etc. But we'd better show him/her the exact spelling on an index card (I don't know how to pronounce it).............or else, who knows who we will be referred (to)...........

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

Not all are MDs, sylvia. Doctorates are given in other areas. Years ago, I had a chiropractor with a doctorate who treated me for pain.

I had a guy in a white uniform at the hospital treat me. He was a painter!

Fortune: Did he tell you that you looked rather pale, and that you could use a bit of color? (Just joking........thought it was funny......you know, the painter and all........)

Ok, what is wrong with seeing a psychiatrist? They can help with issues you or anyone might have lingering from parts of your life. or treat for a brain disease, which I have.

It's pronounced ""fiz eye a trist"" Physiatrist.

LaterGator: Thanks for the pronunciation. Nothing close to how I pronounced it! p.s. It's very easy to remember, too, now that I know.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).
