that is it physiatrist.........but when I posted one time people kept trying to say I meant a therapist so I just started saying brain doctor and I can't get this spelling down in my head for physiatrist. Mark my word someone will think it is a therapist of the mind..........I have already been there with this board and bought the t shirt.Do you mean psychiatrist?
My head is in a whirl at some of your posts
no need for head to spin....the term was discussed earlier in thread...

OK everybody, follow along. RRR said according to her neurosurgeon she has met her maximum medical improvement. Therefore, she now sees a physiatrist and posters who obviously didn't know what a physiatrist does would accuse her of seeing a psychiatrist. And brain doctor is just easier to spell.
Did I get it right RRR?

That's my take on this, too. Except that a physiatrist isn't a brain doctor.

I suspect when RRR said therapist of the mind and physiatrist and psychiatrist look alike, she didn't want people to confuse the two.

A Physiatrist is an MD who specializes in physical medicine and rehabilitation of brain and spinal cord injuries, not a therapist.

They are MDs who specialize in physical medicine and rehab, most specialize in brain and spinal cord injured patients, so essentially, they can be viewed as a brain Dr.

Buck I nana: Oh, I shouldn't have written therapist. I believe someone mentioned nerve, muscle, and bone specialist/doctor. Which is what a couple of folks I know have been dealing with, with not many results/suggestions/referrals. ............ Post #30
