Re: Bought a swing yesterday

Nice!  My neighbor has a metal one and the wind blows it down the hill - your's isn't going anywhere!

@qvcfreak That is so cute. I love the design. A good friend of ours handcrafted one for us, but honestly I love yours better. (Shhhh)

Love it!  Looks like the kind they sell in Amish country.  Enjoy every moment of it.

I like it, especially the high back. You can lean back and rest your head.

Re: Bought a swing yesterday

Beautiful!

We have had one similar for 30 years, and I love to sit under the tree and swing away on a nice hot afternoon! When my son was little, we'd swing and read books by the hour. I still take a stack of magazines out there and read away.

I love the high back on yours, for looks and for comfort. A word of advice. Be sure to treat it with a sealer (something like Thompson's water sealer....although people think there are better brands than that), and if you have a place to dismantle and put it away in the winter (if you live where it gets rainy or snowy in the winter) it will extend the life of the swing and it could last decades.

I was power washing the deck and front porch last weekend, and wanted to get the swing done, but ran out of day. I'll be hitting it the next nice warm dry day we get.

Enjoy your swing. You might find you have to force yourself out just to get things done!

Re: Bought a swing yesterday

Thanks everyone, I saw it a couple of months ago, so I put back $100 a week and finally was able to get it, it was $487.12 with tax, delivery and setup. My MIL had a metal one and I just loved it so when I saw it, it brought back memories. And big plus, it's warrantied for 5 years. And I live in South Texas, hot, doesn't get too cold if at all so I will really get to enjoy it year round.

And I placed it at an angle from the patio, I purchased very nice furntiure last year but it's still in the box since I got everything after summer to get the sales. I have a whole patio set with table, two big chairs and the big one that sits 3. Also bought the beautiful brown wicker like box from Sams to hold the cushions and can be used as a sitting area too. Plus two metal rockers from Academy, still in the box. Hopefully I can get DH and DS to set everything up soon.

Re: Bought a swing yesterday

There is nothing like a porch swing (or in the yard Woman Happy).  When we reburbished our backyard porch, I got my swing, which I had wanted a long time. I forgot the details, but I bought it from someone in Texas who makes them.  I have enjoyed that swing so much. It's great for thinking, reading, calming yourself down........just the enjoyment of being outside and enjoying God's creation.

That's beautiful!  Thanks for sharing, I love a swing.  Did you assemble it?  Or it came assembled?

Thank You, It was delivered and setup for me. It's just two pieces, the frame and the swing attached to frame with chains.
