I frequently write on here that I think it is wrong to use Vit D supplements (unless a MD tells you to) and calcium supplements instead of eating foods rich in calcium and getting out in the sun without slathering on ridiculous amounts of sunscreen for vit d. I am anwsered back every time by people who come on like they know more about this than anyone else ever could , telling me eating dairy and drinking milk doesn't help raise calcium and you can't get enough vit D from the sun. WELL - I just had a bone density test done , and I have never taken a calcium or vit D supplement in my life -My lumbar spine is 3.1 above the mean for a young woman and 3.5 above the mean for a age specific match. I am 64. the hips were similar. Under impression it said normal bone density for a young woman and well above for an age specific woman. So - you all just keep on taking your supplements and drinking instead of milk - I think I am on to the right thing to do.
