Yes they do.  I get one every 2 years. I think starting age 66 or something they have you do it. I did okay, I was in osteopenia in 2022, then because I had issues they had me get one last year early, I had dropped to -3. I need treatment but have been fighting it as I am to afraid to take the meds for osteoporosis

@goldensrbest  Osteoporosis does not show symptoms. The only way to detect it is with the bone density test. That is how i found out I have it. Now I get tested every two years.

Yes, I was scanned earlier this year and determined that I have the beginning of osteoporosis.   I got the shot in July.  Next one in January.   No issues with the shot.  I was dreading it.

What are the short term side effects of the shot?  I had my flu shot on Monday.  SO glad I didn't do the pneumonia shot with it!  I have never ever had any issues with the flu shot.  It could have been a coincidence but yesterday I thought I was going to die.  I had so many "pain" issues I had to deal with while we were out and all night last night.   Pain that didn't seem related to anything.  (Seemingly) no rhyme or reason.  I was finally ready to go to the ER but decided to try some hard drugs first.  That worked but I'm paying for it now.

Dr also suggested a shingles shot.  My Mother Earth anti vax daughter would be having a fit Smiley Surprised  I won't tell her about the other shots.  Everything that happens to me will be because of one of the vaccines I had Smiley Surprised  She's certain my heart attack was due to the Covid vaccine.

@Seminole2

Do you have to lay on your back for the scan?
