I lost 50 pds. back yrs ago and no more knee pain.

spurs, as I understand it, comes from the bone trying to support more weight and they do this by trying to build new bone.

I was over 200 and one day I collapsed on the stairs my legs just wouldn't go no more. went to the dr, took xrays and said bone spurs he said to take naproxyn sodium pills, but, I researched it and found out just too fat

now 165 and do 25 miles a week on the recumbent bike they long since disappeared and my legs are 'hot'. LOL

Gosh !  I am dealing with a bone spur on the inside aspect of my right foot thats been there for several years. I've never discussed it with my Ortho because I was dealing with a repeat right knee replacement last year. It's not to painful and I can wear shoes but  I just recently bought a pair of boots from QVC and when I tried them on it caused pain in the spur so I'm trying to decide weather to send the boots back or try putting a pad over the area that may allow me to wear the boot. I really don't want to go through another surgery with what we are dealing with right now, it was hard enough last year having the knee deal going on and having to be hospitalized 3 times between June and September.  This spur has gotten bigger over the last couple of years a little more painful but I've got to deal with it right now.  Best of luck on getting your situation resolved, I know what you are dealing with !  Now I remember having a heal spur when my daughter was 6 mos old (she just turned 38) and they gave me a cortisone injection. I remember having to use a crutch for a few days afterwards and trying to carry my daughter while on the crutch. Whew!!

@gillsburg   I had bone spurs one on each foot on the side by the baby toe.  I had them surgically removed.  This was many years ago but the surgery was successful.

I did see an orthopedic and yes he did X-rays. He sent me to new balance and I got the recommended shoes and inserts. They retired my shoes so no laces are on the area where it hurts. I try to wear the shoes all the time. It has been about 3 months since 8msaw the dr and it is gett8ng worse. Sometimes wakes me up 8n the night. I just so don't want to have surgery. It started with one foot and now the other 9ne is start8ng to hurt. I'm 68 and it's always s9mething. Ha. Thanks for all your replies.

I totally understand the fear and anxiety involved in something painful like surgery. But you  have said the pain is getting worse and the NB shoes don't help. So you can be a martyr to the pain or suck up that fear and anxiety and get it done so you go on to live a good life. I want you to be happy and healthy and not always in pain. I'm 63 and it is truly always something. About to have another bone surgery, different parts of my body, and yes the pain makes me afraid. I have anxiety over this surgery, but I am so restricted from a normal life that I have to screw up my courage and seek surgery. If your feet are that bad, you are not enjoying life. Believe me, my feet are that bad every day, all the time, from arthritis and it ain't fixable. I do wear Drew Shoes but they won't fix a bone spur. I find NB shoes not helpful to my particular feet arthritis. I have the ones the doctor's recommend from the NB store and they are not that great for my feet. I've spent a fortune on shoes trying to get back to a good life feet wise. Sigh. Please take care of yourself so you can lead a pain free and happy life.
