Body of Hoarder Found in Home After 5-Day Search DALLAS AUTHORITIES HAD TO CUT HOLES IN THE ROOF

UNFREAKINGBELIEVABLE!{#emotions_dlg.scared}

Police showed up at Skip Bynum's house in Dallas last Saturday after his friends reported that the 67-year-old was missing. It wasn't until Thursday that searchers finally found his body amid decades of junk he had hoarded over the years, reports MyFox Dallas. In fact, the piles were so high that authorities had to cut holes in the roof and get in through the attic. Still, it wasn't until police got a warrant to begin hauling out the clutter that Bynum was found. The cause of death isn't known yet.

Neighbors say they knew Bynum had a problem but didn't feel the need to report it. “I wasn’t going to go in and intervene and say, ‘Dude, go clean up your house,'" one tells the Dallas Morning News. The city is going to decide in the next few days whether the house needs to be demolished, and neighbors already are bracing for an onslaught of rats if it comes down. One bright spot: A friend was able to rescue Bynum's chihuahua from the mess.

How sad is that. I can't imagine a human being living like that. Maybe he was substituting his things for people. Who knows?

If the poor man couldn't make it, at least his little dog survived.

The other night I watched an episode with 3 hoarders living together. A pair of twins (Loren and Oren) and an older brother. How sad is that????

I can't watch those hording shows. Nine times out of ten, the hoarder has mental issues, and they are substituting junk for whatever is missing in their lives.

Joel Lavender of Dallas Fire-Rescue said some of the debris was stacked as high as twelve feet inside, reaching to the ceiling in some cases. Crews digging through the trash found a dead raccoon and two dead dogs among the debris, as well as gallon milk jugs full of urine because the bathroom was too full of trash to be used.

Firefighters cut holes in the roof so they could crawl into the attic of the home. However, after an exhaustive search through "multiple piles of debris," authorities called in a team with search dogs Thursday.

It's the worst when kids are subjected to that. I saw one episode in which the mother sat around and ordered her kids to cook for her surrounded by that filth and clutter.

Ugh.

The worst ones (in my opinion) are the animal hoarders. My heart breaks for those poor innocent creatures, trapped in filth.

Why does the owner do it? Because they "love" them.

That's not love.

The animal welfare organizations see a lot of that, too, but the hoarders are rarely held accountable.

Yes, there's a mental health issue (I'd hate to think that behavior's normal), but 120 cats and one litter box is nothing short of animal abuse nonetheless.

I find those Hoarding shows eerily fascinating. It's like a bad accident I can't look away from. One lady didn't have running water, so she placed plastic store bags in the toilet & after "using" them, just placed them in a corner. Hazmat uniformed cleanup folks had to be called in. Another lady had years worth of used needles from her insulin injections. Another couple had rabbits everywhere...their home was basically a rabbit hutch...so much stuff in the floor.
