Despite a poster's avatar (male or female) and/or the poster's user name and/or how a poster has identified her or himself, I sometimes think the poster is not the gender he/she says he/she is. Writing style and punctuation use often gives a person's true gender away.
Does anyone agree? Or do you just accept every poster at face (pardon the pun - esp. with the avatar) value?

@Pearlee I dont really care about the poster's gender and accept people at face value. Since this is pretty anonymous I accept others for who they show themselves to be-warts and all. If I dont care for them, I dont respond, unless someone is 'in my face' obnoxious. Life's too short.

"Writing style and punctuation use often gives a person's true gender away."
You have to be kidding. Does it really matter as long as he/she/it posts in the correct category?

Female here.
Gender is irrelevent to me.
What does it matter?

Some people have said when they registered they didn't mark anything and the avatar defaulted to male. So we may have some women who are identified as male for that reason.

@maestra Fair enough. But when I think that, I always wonder why someone would do that and if a person isn't truthful about gender identity, what else isn't the person truthful about? In some cases it's so obvious that the gender claimed isn't the gender (at least obvious to me) that it's pretty comical - a person trying to come off as a different gender and failing (IMO) miserably.

Writing style and punctuation do not give away anyone's gender. Lol
I'm sure there are a lot of men that post here that haven't revealed their gender. It doesn't matter to me.

@Shawnie I'm not addressing species at all. Just gender.
