I'm stunned with these responses.
@sidsmom I don't know why you're stunned. You take a risk when eating any purchased food. How many people died last year after eating caramel apples? How about the cantaloupe (listeria?) disaster a couple years ago? It is one thing after another. I'd prefer eating a product from a facility that is being carefully monitored and batch tested than take carte blanche with the unknown.

My husband being from Texas is like a Blue Bell freak - just like soo may other people here. It was like OH. MY GOD - NO BLUE BELL!!! I was like, "seriously...???".
I am am not touching that stuff with a ten foot pole!! That company seems to have some real issues with having a clean environment for food processing. They are just dragging their feet and not taking this thing seriously. All they really cared about was putting their precious ice cream back on the shelves for their loyal customers. EWWW. And, EWWW again!!
I agree. I'm always AMAZED at what some people eat.

@CAMOGIRL Theyre so secretive about the goings on in their Brenham (main) plant that they have huge glass windows where the whole process can be viewed by visitors. I imagine every girl and boy scout in that part of the world has been through that plant. It appears to be immaculate. It is an old well-respected company.

It's been back in Austin for a while with limited flavors. I'm doing my part to support the company, because I'm awesome like that. I'm obviously still alive.

I don't care for it but I have a friend who's addicted to it so he'll be very happy!

NO THANKS. I don't eat tainted food that is processed in an environment like Blue Bell.

When I do buy it cream, which isn't often, I buy the store brand at the HEB where I buy my groceries. (LOVE their Dulce de Leche flavor). I've never even tried Blue Bell but now I'm curious....

@FLgardener wrote:I hope Blue Bell makes a successful comeback. It is good ice cream. I hope it still comes in a full half gallon. I prefer to buy a half gallon.
We have been eating Publix frozen yogurt, which is quite good.
I know that Breyer's still makes some ice cream, but one must read the label carefully. Most of their stuff doesn't even qualify as ice cream. I made the mistake of picking some up on sale, got it home and saw that it was "frozen dessert". It was awful.
I have eaten Breyer's ice cream for ages. Breyers makes many ice cream flavors that they carry at all the stores around me, I have never seen a "frozen dessert" container.
