Is there a simple way to unblock a web site...specifically a government site, which I know I did not block.

I am trying to pay sales tax and having a ridiculously difficult time getting into the web site that I have just used in January!

Along with all the other error message I have received for two days, the latest message was the the site was blocked and I need to unblock!

And yes I have callled, waited on hold, called again....this is day two of trying to complete a simple task.

thanks

Maybe check your security settings (including pop-up blockers)  just to verify that something isn't blocking it and either allow the site on your Ad Blocker if you use one or disable the Ad Blocker.  My husband was trying to use a website the other day and it wasn't working for him until I looked over his shoulder and noticed it would say something about a window being blocked and then it would disappear.  After he disabled his pop-up blocker the site worked for him.

You never know when a site might make a change that has unintended consequences.

Sometimes extensions we have on our computers, like the rebate site extension they're always asking me to add, will also interfere with sites.  It took a lot of back and forth once to find out one of my extensions was keeping me from being able to log into Ancestry once, so I no longer download those things.

Re: Blocked web site

I admit I don't know much about computer technology!! but when I have VPN "connected" it frequently does not allow me to access various websites including QVC and Macy's.  I have to "disconnect" to access them.  If you have VPN that may be the problem.

I would try clearing cookies and history. Reboot router. That might help.

You can also try a different browser.

I think the US copyright site works best with firefox which get with times already, but sometimes what works on Chrome doesn't on Safari and vice versa. Edge is another one you can try.

Between Chrome, Safari, and Edge it should get you there although the pop up blocker is a great guess. If you click on the website address, it should ask you if you want to unblock.

Lastly, of course make sure you're on the official site. Scammers can be real clever at spoofing the website or search results.

@Laura14 I had that renewing my husbands Drivers Licence, we were getting no where on Safari but it worked great on Chrome

@Mom2Dogs  If you are using a Mac......

If your OS is outdated certain sites will be blocked for security reasons.  ALL .gov sites will be blocked.

Write a check & snail mail your sales tax if the above is the case.
