I definitely remember them and even have a couple of them that I still use for loose change.  

 

My mother always carried one in her purse for coins to use in parking meters or pay phones.    When she passed away that was one item that I kept.  I don't use that one but when I see it in my drawer it always bring back memories of my Mom.
