TMZ posted a video of a woman grabbing a steamer from a child then she tried to grab another one from the child's mom.  When the mom reached back for the item she had, the first woman started screaming that the mom was scaring her.  The whole scene looked scary as shoppers were on the floor and the pile of boxes were getting knocked over!

There are other videos and stories starting to circulate across the web about this year's Black Friday experiences.  Do you have any stories to share?  Mine have been calm because I've only done online shopping so far.  I was thinking about going out soon, but now I'm not so sure!

Re: Black Friday 2015 stories

I never go out shopping on Black Friday.

I would want to be kind to myself and not put myself into such a negative place full of insane people.

I've never done Black Friday shopping.   It always astounds me how badly some people will behave.

I also have never gone out on Black Friday.  I can't imagine the kind of bargain that people think they are getting that they would put themselves in a position like this creates.  There are plenty of bargains online.  I think there are people that just like feeling like they've got the ultimate deal.  They just like that rush they get from it all.

If I needed to save money that bad, I'd wait until after Xmas when the bargains are the best.

Re: Black Friday 2015 stories

I went out to the mall last night, stores started opening at 3:00 yesterday afternoon. It was a madhouse!!! I went out again at 7:00 this morning, home by 11:30, and it was a pleasant experience, surely not the chaos from last night. And the bargains! Galore! Gap had 50% off everything in the store today, or 60% if you bought before 10:00 am. What I saved was more than worth the small aggravation of waiting in a few lines. And no horror stories to speak of. Great experience!

I saw that video and many others. It makes me embarrassed to be a part of the same species.

Re: Black Friday 2015 stories

We arose around 9 am.  My husband prepared omelets with turkey, mushrooms, and vegetables. Hung a fresh balsam wreath on each exterior door today.  We will be enjoying baked orange roughy, sweet potatoes, and a tossed salad for dinner this evening.  A few logs burning in the fireplace will cast a warm glow to the living room.  That's enough excitement for us this Friday.

This morning on GMA they showed two men rolling around on the floor punching each other at a Toys R Us store, I think. i guess it doesn't matter what store. Their behavior was abominable and embarrassing.

UPDATE: The two men were going at each other right in the middle of the Mall in Louisville, KY. Mall Security broke it up, but by the time the actual police got there, the two men had left. Now they are wondering if the men staged it for their 15 minutes of fame. That's even more strange than the fight itself.

I saw other videos too.  Some were posted on a news site in United Kingdom--surely perpetuating any stereotypes against Americans.  It boggles the mind how people can act like that just to save a few dollars.  If I ran a store, I'd want to avoid that mess.

What I really find disconcerting is that everyone in the world knows that some one will most certainly have a camera and record the whole thing and knowing that, they STILL don't seem to care. Even if you are a selfish person you would think the fear of embarrassment of being exposed grabbing a steamer out of a child's hand would be at least a little deterrent to not do that but even that didn't dissuade her. You would think that was insulin she was fighting for like that, not a steamer.

I have only gone shopping on Black Friday once in my life. That was enough. I don't know how anyone could enjoy that even in situations where people aren't violent but to each his own. We went out to breakfast this morning and passed our local mall. They had police directing traffic as they do every year and it was completely packed. When the police have to direct traffic, that is a sign to me to stay home. I hate being in super crowded places and no amount of saved money is worth that to me.
