I'd like to know how to keep blackbirds out of my feeder.  They are the nastiest things.  I changed to safflower seed because they aren't supposed to like that.  It did keep them away for a while, but they keep creeping back.  They chase away all the other birds.  Ugh!

I ADORE DOVES, and I'd humanely find a spot in a bush/tree if possible for the sticks/feeble lil nest and hope for the best.

'd not harm the animal if my life depended on it.

PS and BTW -

The doves in my neighborhood are 10xs smarter than the humans on my block!

ITA---based on my own experience as well as family/friends Mourning Doves arent the smartest and they can be the "pigs" of the bird world, they can eat a whole feeder full of seed in a couple hours and leave nothing for the Cardinals and other birds ....Woman Sad

Never had a problem with doves, but those black birds can empty a feeder in a very short time. And there are others also.

Here's an example of a complaint from a local Bird Blog about the Mourning Doves ---maybe they turn into "pigs" just in our city-----

· Mourning Doves, are eating all the seed on all 4 of my feeders, they are pooping in all the feeders and scaring off all the other birds that want to eat, like  juvenile male cardinals, who are so hungry and cute. its just like something out of the movies, its scary how many doves we have now. is there ...

@Spurt  Yes, grackles.  That's the correct name, but around here we call them blackbirds.  I know, the other day I say one go after a robin with it's feathers all fluffed up.  Real meanies.

Wow, that's a lot of doves!
