All I did was open the front door and a bird flew in off my greenery cascade.  I knew better but forgot.  With brooms and nets DH and I tried to keep it confined.  It kept flying high between cornace, wreath on fireplace and Christmas tree in family room.  In dining room he also sought out high perch and greenery.  After 10 minutes he was s!owing down and we got in a net and safely outdoors.  I think it was a female cardinal.  Poor thing.  I am going to have to find some greenery to hang on porch wall that it can nestle in.

A couple years ago, we had a bat get in the house.  What a rigmarole!

My two sons and I lived in a beautiful home for 23 years. During that time, we coped with 22 bats (on separate occasions).  We spent a fortune trying to get rid of them. After I had a brain aneurysm, we sold the place to a flipper.

I had a bird get in once.  Luckily I had the screens and storm windows where you lifted one up and pulled the other down.  I just hung a sheet over the archway to keep it contained to the livingroom and opened the window. I turned off the lights in that room and drew the shades down on the other windows.  Birdie aimed for the sunshine and after checking it out flew away.  I was keeping watch from behind the sheet.

@Twins Mom  Glad you got it out.  That is really scary to have anything flying around in your house.

I'd take a bird over a bat, but no flying things, best of all.
