I have his autobiography, JUST AS I AM, written over a decade ago. Humble, peaceful man. Liked him even better after learning more about him. He wouldn't hold crusades in cities that refused to integrate choirs. He left a college because president refused to have guest speakers on campus who were not same religion as college. Spoke so highly of his wife. He was a kinder, gentler evangelist - so different than those leading mega churches today.

Humility and integrity were a big part of his life. My sincere condolences to his family.

Great preacher of the Word, great man of God. 

 

I thought it was very interesting that an episode of "The Crown" was about him evangelizing in England.

About that no breath of scandal. In an article he said he never counseled without someone else being there.
