well Blessed Mother of Bob Dylan.  I don't believe it!  That wedding dress is actually ok, not hoochie mama.  I was expecting sheer, see thru.  She did well they both look decently groomed. lol.

Re: Bezos Sanchez Wedding

[ Edited ]

@Oznell  Let me try to take a stab at this.

I think the beef with the Venetians, their anger & sadness is, they feel the Venetian citizens, former Venetian families & neighbors have been pushed out of their own Venetian homes, by the Touristing Trade Buyers, specifically, the non-Venetians, wayyy overwhelming body of outsider Owners of Hotels/Entertainers/VRBOs.

I think home Venetians feel like they've lost their own City/Country, dramatically, to bought up - Money/Power/Greed/Vacation/Traders/Entertainment.

Significantly more aware now that there's less families, neighbors, Culture, famous for Venetian Crafts,  and home town/shoppes Venetians (ex: crafts) vendors there any more.

Also - Breaking the Venetian hearts are - the remaining Venetian residents are very much aware that the once working, D-A-M System (MOSE) technology, that they paid so much for, is rapidly becoming inadequate -  creeping up, now,, overtaking famous landmarks like St Marcus Square, was once one of the biggest tourist draws to Venice, incl lollying at their outdoor cafes there at the Square.

The resident's D-A-M (MOSE), is overtopping, not holding the waters back from Venice proper as well any more, destroying the Venice they once knew & loved, that so drew tourists to the former Venice.

Their former Venice has lost much of it's famous ambiance.  Mosey'ing around Venice, their beloved St Marcus' Square now required them to build ugly platforms for residents/tourists to walk around, rising above the over-topped waters.  Or, they're religated to wear rain boots.  Ppl looked forward to "feeding the (many) birds" there at the former dry St Marcus square. Reminded me of "Feed the Birds" in the movie Mary Poppins.

It's not their beloved, once open, St Marcus Square they once knew & cherished, dry, with it's highly populated, beloved, dry, attractive, famous Sidewalk Cafe's.  I can remember just relaxing there, "ppl watching," while slowly sipping a wonderful Italian wine.  And I wasnt wearing boots! heh

Building wooden platforms & wearing boots is totally destroying the ambiance of once attracting ppl to Venice, let alone, living there 24/7!

Not the Venice they once lived in & so admired.

It's such wretched excess it makes me very sad.

Like all the other American billionaires, poor Jeff needs a tax break!

This wedding is bringing something like $35 million into Venice ... why not a location in the United States so some local economy can benefit?  Why another country?   JMO, but shame on them!

As Bill Gates was a guest, maybe I can express my admiration for him,  He has been so generous in his lifetime, and continues to be and is so concerned with the fate of those poor souls in dire times abroad.  He has spoken out and pleaded on their behalf.

Venice is not the only destination unhappy with the huge influx of tourists.  Spain (like Portugal as well) is suffering from a shortage of housing for residents due to the tourist influx after COVID.  It seems many residents have converted dwellings into B+Bs for tourists, leaving a large gap in housing for residents.

I went to Venice two years ago as it was part of my cruise and I was not impressed at all.  It was dirty and the people were not friendly at all.

I was looking at pics of some of the people arriving for this wedding.  I wonder, what in the world do you give this couple. What would you give?  I'd send my regrets that I wasn't going.

An Amazon gift card.

Well, they look happy.  Whatever else, I wish them well and hope that happiness lasts.

And I hope those buttons all down the front are just for show and there's a zipper in the back!  Otherwise, it's going to be a long wedding night.

@Venezia

Well, based on the $$$$ being spent, I'm sure there were a couple women from the designer's company who were on call to go to her room and unbutton her out of it and take it somewhere to be cleaned.
